At Jeanne d’Arc British International School, keeping children safe, happy, and well cared for is at the heart of everything we do. Safeguarding means protecting children from harm, noticing concerns early, and making sure every child feels listened to and supported.
All our staff receive regular training so that they know what to do if they are worried about a child’s wellbeing.
All members of staff at the school who are involved with our pupils have had safeguarding training provided by Educare.
Jeanne d’Arc British International School also has three members of staff taking care of safeguarding matters at the school. The pupils know who they can meet and talk with if they have any problem.
As part of safeguarding, we follow strict safer recruitment practices. This means we carefullycheck the background and suitability of everyone who works or volunteers in our school.
From job adverts and interviews to references and background checks, we do everythingpossible to ensure that only safe and suitable adults are entrusted to work with our pupils.
The team involved in interviewing potential staff members have had the Safer Recruitmenttraining provided by Educare.
The school pays full regard to the ‘British International Schools Safeguarding Coalition’(BISSC) – guidelines for safer recruitment which came into being from September 1st 2025.
To demonstrate this, we maintain a Single Central Register, a secure record of all staffworking in the entire school, regardless of what position they hold. This also includescontractors hired to work in the school.
This register shows that the proper checks, such as identity, qualifications, right to work, andbackground checks, have been completed. It provides assurance to parents and inspectorsthat safeguarding and safer recruitment requirements are fully met.
